By August, I started a one-year contract job with Pet Valu Inc. It was a
good learning experience for me since 80% of my duties were print design
and the rest was allotted to web design.
I still do wonder why I was offered that job. First, I wasn't familiar
with pet products. Second, I had very little experience in print design.
But, it didn't matter. Print design wasn't hard to grasp and learning about
cat facts, dog breeds and other pets were fun even if I wasn't a pet owner.
At this stage, the company was undergoing a rebranding. The face of the
company was shifting towards holistic and natural products, which I had
an in-depth knowledge. I was given a large project, which was the company
truck design. I started the overall look and feel of the design (with the
sunflower, cuddly dog and cat), but it was passed on to another designer
when my contract ended. If you ever see it passing by, what remained original
was the navy blue design on the back.
