Content Management System (CMS), Web 2.0, PHP
I have this thing for volunteering and usually would do so to expand my knowledge. I came across a portal site called Jamaicans.com in 2002 and proposed some design projects to the owner. Three years and two redesigns later, the owner gave me greater responsibilities. By that time, the site had at least 1200 pages just for articles alone. The site needed a tool to be managed more effectively and efficiently. A CMS was needed and his choice was Big Medium.

When it was time to redesign, I had to learn how to customize Big Medium according to my design. This was my first introduction to a CMS application.

I wasn't a big fan of Big Medium and I naturally explored other CMS applications (like Joomla), along with Web 2.0 applications like Nucleus and WordPress.
